Why is Elevation So Important?
Most people think of warm tropical breezes when they think of living in Hawaii, but the Big Island has a large range of climate zones and elevations to choose from.
If you prefer to live close to the ocean ("makai"), for example, in the oceanfront condos and homes on Alii Drive, then you can count on warmer temperatures. These areas are perfect for the people that want to be right on the water, and like it nice and warm. If you prefer a cooler elevation, you'd choose a home "up mauka" (towards the mountain"). The higher elevations are perfect for those who have horses, coffee farmers and the people who like to snuggle under a blanket at night. So different elevations make sense for different people, and that's why I say that "Elevation is the Key to Happiness" |
